What's a FireLogg? There is no profound response. We could spin some answer and back into the name with some deep and spiritually relevant answer... you see that all the time: "FireLogg - it's about a dream I had, it's a reference to the burning bush in Genesis..." "FireLogg is about igniting a burning flame with a single spark..." "It's about pressed wood products, sold at grocery checkout next to the dry dog food..."Whatever. The FireLogg name is meaningless - unless you write to us with some higher purpose and meaning that we're missing. To be perfectly honest, Mike dropped this name on us as we were walking on the 3rd street Promenade in Santa Monica one night over cigars, talking about the project. If FireLogg won, you can only imagine all of the names that didn't make the cut... trust us, it's a scary list of losers. Here's the scoop: Everyday people spend time and energy searching for meaning in things that are truly meaningless (insert early 90's Crystal cra  ze here... Get a grip... IT'S A ROCK!!!) We've found that things are generally what they appear to be. If it quacks, it's a duck. If it's tinny, it's an Ovation. The key is to look at things with a critical eye, filtered through a balanced and grounded foundation.Without a strong foundation, the house will get blown over when the wind and waves come. We've spent a lifetime refining our foundations. Our families, the Bible, our churches, music, pastors we've known and good friends have all helped in developing the strong foundation on which our music and our lives sit. The refining process is ongoing... we're not even close to finished, and the winds and waves shake us up everyday. But our foundations are stronger today than last year at this time, and they'll be stronger tomorrow. We're still growing, and if we waited until we were perfect or "ready" this music would never be released. We're hopelessly human, and we want to share our humanity with our listeners. FireLogg's songs represent our take on the lives we live and see. The Music itself is a collage of the stuff we grew up listening to and playing. It's an unashamed shout-out to the artists we love. They are such a part of our playing that their influence (their licks, their tone, their phrasing, their song structure) creeps into all of our music. Every moment of our lives has had an influence on the music. We've been hurt by people we've trusted. We've become calloused and guarded by that experience. We've learned to release, forgive and receive. We've blown it and hurt people who trusted and loved us. We've walked away from God. We've come back. We've known the joy of blessings from God. We've felt ripped off when prayer wasn't answered in our timing, or how we desired. After searching for something more meaningful than ourselves, and something more to life than just breathing day to day, we've slowly let go of our will and turned over our lives to God. All of this and tons more has been brought to our music. Lastly: We're not a cause band. There are way too many "cause bands" out there. They all have deep stories, good intentions and for the most part are serving the greater good. The problem is this: You can't pull the cause from the music - so if you're not down with their specific series of issues and agenda, their relevance diminishes to you as an individual listener. The sick opposite is being a complete sell out and being a band with no take on anything - simply existing as a means to some executive's end. We're not pretty enough to serve the latter master, and we're not smart enough or deep enough for the former. We're just a couple of simple So Cal guys who have been through a lot of stuff and are finally in a place where we can talk about it.
